Dr. Augustina Șiman
I’m an international lawyer and diplomat working at the intersection of international peace and security, UN decision-making, and accountability under international law. Over the past decade, I’ve supported and shaped multilateral outcomes across the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, and national institutions—helping translate legal principles into practical diplomatic results.
What I work on
- UN Security Council & UN General Assembly processes (working methods, documentation, elections, negotiations)
- International justice and accountability, including cooperation with international courts and tribunals
- International humanitarian law & protection in armed conflict, including strengthening national implementation capacity
- Human rights law and humanitarian protection, including gender-related accountability initiatives
Experience
Diplomat (Counsellor, Lead Advisor) — Department of International Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova (2025–present)
I support national efforts to strengthen capacity for implementing international humanitarian law across institutions.
Senior Policy Advisor for Legal Affairs — UN Security Council, Malta’s Country Team (New York) (2022–2024)
I supported legal strategy, negotiations, and working-methods initiatives, including work tied to accountability, reparations, and cooperation with international courts.
Legal Adviser / Elections Officer / Diplomat — Permanent Mission of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations (New York) (2019–2022)
I worked on UN elections, committee work (3rd/5th/6th), and multilateral engagement that elevated Moldova’s visibility in UN forums.
Diplomat — Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (Chișinău) (2015–2019)
I supported positions across UN Security Council reform, international courts, restrictive measures, and multilateral negotiations.
